A little history…
Number 8 mine is legendary among gemstone enthusiasts, famous for producing some of the highest-quality, most highly collectible American turquoise in the world.  Discovered in 1925 and first mined in 1929, Turquoise extraction stopped decades ago when the claim was taken over by a large-scale gold mining company. Because the mine is closed to turquoise, any #8 turquoise available today comes from vintage jewelry and private collections.
Number 8 turquoise is famous for its black, golden-red and brown spider web matrix background, which is set off by the soft blue to blue green turquoise.
Crow Springs mine was discovered in 1909 and it is highly prized for producing distinct, light-to-dark green stones featuring a striking, vibrant red or blackish-brown matrix. The mine is in an area known for its volcanic geology. It has had many different owners over the years so mining was sporadic but it is still being mined today.
